I have a mule that I have been having saddle fitting issues with. I had recently purchased a new mule saddle, and an SMx pad for him. When I mentioned my problems with other saddles staying in place, they suggested I purchase a Tacky pad too. I had one at home, but never liked it so I was hesitant, and I really wanted to stick with (pardon the pun) the SMx. The rep at Jeffers mentioned the Cashel Tacky Tack underpad that I could use with any pad. After checking the price, I thought this would be a good way to test it out.
Likes: I am not sure if it's the new saddle or the Tacky Tack underpad, but I am happy that I can finally ride my mule without everything slipping around. Even without britchen or cruppers, the saddle stayed put in the up and down terrain we have been riding in.
The added bonus, my brand new SMx pad is staying pristine clean by using this underpad. It's so much easier to hose off this underpad and set it out to dry than laundering the Merlino Wool SMx pad!
It's the right size to stay hidden underneath my saddle pad. The cutouts help it conform to my mule's back
Dislikes: I am pleased with it and it's affordability.
Quality: One piece, with cutouts in front and back to help with fit.
Summary: Nice value for a pratical peice of equipment. I am glad the Jeffers rep. notified me of it!
