Manufacturer: Custom Saddlery
Category: Dressage Saddles
Purchase: After a trip to Dressage at Devon where I sat in every saddle there from many manufacturers, I decided to try the Custom Saddlery Revolution. I worked directly with the saddle fitter for my part of the country. I sent him a tracing and he flocked the saddle to my horse. I emailed him pictures to verify that the fit was ok - I sent it back for one adjustment and it was great. I paid full price, $3650.
Likes: I love this saddle. The best thing; it is adjustable. My growing boy just keeps on getting wider and my saddle has been widened twice. Most recently, I shipped the saddle to N.J. on a Tuesday and received it back the following Monday. Incredible service. These saddles are comfortable right out of the box. There is virtually no break-in period. They make you feel secure in the saddle and when my big guy bucks - you can be sure I'm happy I have my revolution. The deep seat is great - I love they way it puts you in the right place. I also tried the Laguna model and had a very hard time deciding between the two.
Dislikes: There are two things I don't like about the saddle: First, it is heavy. It's super-comfortable, but a bit bulky. However, that's probably why I feel so secure in it. Second, the black dye used on the saddle has a tendency to rub off on saddle pads and white breeches - especially if you get caught in the rain at a horse show. I'm not sure if they can do anything about that, but it would be great if they could find a dye that lasts, but does not end up making your white breeches gray in the crotch!
Quality: The Buffalo leather is top quality. I have seen other Buffalo leather saddles where the leather shows signs of wear in a short period - not the Custom Saddlery leather. My saddle is 2 years old and still looks perfect. Stitching, consistency, it's all very good quality.
Summary: I love the Custom Saddlery Revolution. I have had excellent service from the company and would encourage others to check them out. With the adjust-ability of the tree and the ability to re-flock, I plan on having this saddle for a very long time. It is well worth the money.
