Purchase: I bought this girth from Dover for $20. I wanted to try a string girth for my horse, but didn't want to drop $80 on something that might not work for us.
Likes: I really like how the string girth molds itself to my horse's side. It doesn't need to be super tight to hold the saddle on securely, a big plus for my girthy mare. It's also really lightweight and the most flexible girth I've ever used. I will definitely be buying a higher quality version of this girth.
Dislikes: The fiber isn't actually 100% mohair like the website claims. It's really a mohair blend that isn't as soft as 100% mohair, and doesn't feel as "high quality" either.
The girth has also stretched out a bit since I first started using it. So far it's not a big deal, but if it keeps stretching it'll be too long.
The strings are knotted together to form the girth, but ends aren't tied off, they're just glued in place.
Quality: Quality is not high, but neither is the price. The buckles are really cheap looking, and the fiber is a blend and not true 100% mohair. The ends are glued, not tied, and I don't have high expectations for the longevity of this girth. It's working out really well for me right now, but I'm saving up for a better one.
Summary: For the price, it's a decent girth. It probably won't hold up to rigorous use, but it's very comfortable for the horse. It would be a great back-up girth or a spare girth for a lesson barn or horse camp.
