Purchase: I bought this recent model in 2010 on the second hand market for $600 fully mounted. It had only been used a couple of times.
This is for me to trail ride and do faster work/poles in. However, I have actually been using it for flatwork and lessons as well due to my horse changing shape fairly quickly and me lacking confidence in the fit of my Kieffer Dsg Saddle.
Likes: Useful bit of kit. Easy to clean and no hassles with a bit of rough handling.
Sensitive TB at the bottom of the ladder after coming off the track seems to have no issues with the saddle (green gullet, ridden with plenty of back protection.
Has enabled me to continue riding and working him until other saddle refitted.
Fairly comfortable to ride in - no adverse effects and doesn't prevent correct positioning etc.
Dislikes: Synthetic materials and a hot climate - not a good mixture.
Don't like the way that sweat/moisture pools on the under panel surface even when ridden with a thick cotton pad between the skin and the material.
Concerned that the girth straps may wear and break fairly easily going forward?
Quality: Good quality and construction. Don't know how this will last over time but as a newish synthetic unit it is reasonable in structure.
Summary: Handy, affordable option. Will hang on to this for as long as it is safe to use - I know I will always be able to provide my own saddle on any horse that I may ride in the future.
