Textilene Fly Mask w/Soft Ears & Fleece Trim
Horsewear
Manufacturer: Kensington
Model: Textilene Fly Mask w/Soft Ears & Fleece Trim
Category: Horsewear
Purchase: I bought two of these fly masks from State line Tack early this year (2010) for $25 each plus tax & shipping. They were regular price. I was using the Cashel Crusader Soft masks with ears and my horses were tearing them up within a couple days of wearing them, and then they were pretty much useless. I decided to go with Kensington masks because they looked tough, yet comfortable.
Likes: My horses DON'T mutilate them and they stay on! LOL! My horses like them and prefer them. They come in cool plaid colors with comfortable fleece trim and are VERY sturdy and long wearing.
Dislikes: I wish they were $15 instead of $25...but hey, they're good masks and worth it right??
Quality: Excellent sturdy construction! Made of textilene mesh around the face and soft mesh on the ears (my horses like the soft mesh and couldn't stand the regular textilene ears Kensington makes in other fly mask models; the soft mesh allows ear movement as the stiff textilene ears DO NOT). There is fleece lining all around the outline of the mask and on the crown for luxurious comfort. They come in some neat plaid colors....I got plum and blue ice plaid for my boys. My boys have been wearing them everyday since April and it is now September...the masks are still in ONE PIECE and looking good! :) There is a double velcro closure under the throat latch. I have to double up my warmblood's because he has a narrow throat latch...still fits perfect. My boys do tear them off every once in a while on their own for whoever knows what reason (probably fussing/playing with each other over the stall fence)...but that's a good thing for them to be able to take them off on their own in case something happens..for example: A fly gets trapped in their mask in a fluke situation. However, even so they are torn off sometimes...they NEVER fall apart of get damaged! ;)
Summary: Love love love these masks...HIGHLY recommended!! I would like to see a slit in the middle for the forelock to hang...as the Cashel Crusader soft masks have that....I would only add that option on to a Kensington mask and make it fleece trimmed around the forelock slit. Other than that...I give it an A++++!!!
