Show Jumping Saddle
Jumping Saddles

For Sale on eBay

Manufacturer: Dominus
Model: Show Jumping Saddle
Category: Jumping Saddles

Purchase: I bought this saddle used at a backyard tack sale for $500. I was told that when they were still made, they retailed for upwards of $2700

Likes: This saddle is AMAZING. I am an avid hunter/jumper rider and this saddle has fit every horse I've ever ridden decently well. It does a great job of holding your leg and giving you great support over bigger fences without interfering. This saddle also is nice for flat work and doesn't limit your leg like many forward flap jumping saddles do. This saddle is also made by the maker of Amerigo saddles, so when buying them used you are really getting them for a steal considering their quality. As a side note, I have ridden in many other top of the line saddles (Forestier's, Antares, etc.) and I feel this saddle compares.

Dislikes: The only problems I've had with this saddle is that the tree is slightly narrow on my model, and doesn't fit my current horse (a big, fat dutch WB). However, the tree has fit several sore backed TBs very well. Also, the leather on one of my knee rolls is tearing. Not sure if this is because the leather (like some top of the line saddles) is too soft and breaks down quicker, or if i'm just particularly strong in that leg. Also on that side, the bottom flap has lots of scratching/wear, but that was there when I bought it and I have no idea how it happened.

Quality: All the construction seems very well done. The leather is of nice quality and takes oil well. I am VERY hard on my saddles and do not take care of them how I should, and besides the one knee roll this saddle has really held up. Also the tree seems very sturdy. I had a horse dump this saddle and stand on it on concrete and the tree is still undamaged.

Summary: If you find one of these saddles, BUY IT. You will be getting a saddle that is comparable to saddles with much bigger price tags.
