Manufacturer: Dover Saddlery
Model: All Purpose Neoprene Galloping Boots
Category: Horse Boots and Wraps
Purchase: I purchased these boots from Dover Saddlery in Hockessing DE, about one year ago. I was looking for some breathable, inexpensive protection and support for my arabian gelding, and these boots were perfect! I payed $17 for the first pair, and loved them so much that I returned and bought two more pairs for $24.
Likes: These boots are amazing! They are lightweight, breathable, and provide excellent support and protection for my 14hh arabian gelding. I use them for hacking, jumping, and dressage, and they never slip or cause my horse's legs to overheat. Being a finicky arabian, my pony has rejected many brands of boots in the past, including a pair twice as expensive as these boots. With these, however, he never lifts his legs when I put them on or fidgets when I take them off. They do not leave marks on his legs, even after an hour or so of hill work or flat work. A friend of mine even uses these on her novice cross-country horse, to protect his legs from bruises and other leg damage! These boots are also extremely easy to clean; before shows, I throw them in the washing machine and they come out looking brand new! For schooling, a quick hosing and hanging them to dry removes any unsightly or uncomfortable dirt, hair, mud, or arena dust! When kept clean, these boots are long lasting and incredibly comfortable and convenient for both you and your horse!
Dislikes: Their are not many things about these boots that I do not like. The only flaw that I found (which is technically not even a flaw) is that after about a year of use, the velcro became a bit worn, and one of the boots got a small hole in it. However, after daily use, this is to be expected from any product, and these boots held up very well.
Quality: The boot itself is constructed of light, breathable neoprene, with a padded leather strike pad, and three reverse grip hook and loop closures. The neoprene is light and breathable, unlike some other boots, where the neoprene is heavy, and more rubbery. They are very durable boots, and my first pair are still usable after a year of daily use.
Summary: The bottom line is, these boots are one of the best pairs of boots I have owned. The are convenient to clean, easy to put on, and they last and last. I would eagerly recommend these boots to anyone looking for of high-quality, inexpensive protection for their horse!
