Likes: Have used a lot of different blankets over the years on a few different horses and hands down these Power rugs are the best in every regard from fit to function and they wear like nails.
Dislikes: I don't like the 2007 and prior chest clips. But not many of those floating around anymore. Everything else I like. In compare to previous reviewer, I do have a huge 17.2 shark withered TB stakes horse in size 84 and these rugs fit him ideally.
Quality: Extra ballistic nylon covering in Silver that deflects UV rays but temp controls the amount of heat the horse needs to hold or release to stay ultimately comfortable between -20 all the way to 50+. The light has stay dry wick fleece that works as a cooler as well as a turnout rug. The extra has fleece as well as fill for cozy warmth. I love the closures on the blanket, the comfy fleece panel at the chest, and the half lined stay dry across the back.
Summary: I use my light rug overnights in the early Autumn starting at 45-50 degrees. Can be used all the way to -5 on a horse but I switch out for the extra at 25 degrees and only add a liner in high wind/blowing snow turnout below zero degrees. Extra is rated to -25 though. These are hands down the best blankets, far superior in every regard....and priced less than Rambo in most cases! Worth every penny. Not called the "rolls royce of horseware" for nothing.
Folks always complain about price of something. In this rug you may get a decade of solid use. Is much cheaper in the long run than buying a second-rate rug...and Bucas is excellent at following through on their guarantees unlike Rambo Horseware in the US. Bucas folks are very helpful and happy to speak with individual customers!
