Dressage Saddles
Manufacturer: Tudor Estate
Model: Dressage
Category: Dressage Saddles
Purchase: I purchased this saddle used, online for about $500 plus shipping costs. It is a wide saddle. I have been having trouble fitting my wide gelding, so I gave it a try. Previous reviews I had read sounded pretty good. I am so glad I did!!!
Likes: For a used saddle, it is in very good condition. The leather is very soft and supple. It gives the impression of being a very quality leather. But what I like most is that after months of looking, this saddle FITS MY HORSE. There is no rocking, no bridging, no sliding around. It actually fits him. It is also very comfortable for me. Not too much leg/thigh blocking to lock my position. I don't care for that. The billets are nice and strong. It has a very nice overall appearance.
Dislikes: Not much I don't like. I think the seat sizes run a bit small. Mine is an 18 and sometimes an 18 is too big for me. I think it runs small as it has a bit of cut-back to the head. At any rate, it fits me well and is quite comfortable.
Quality: Well balanced. Excellent craftsmanship throughout. Beautiful leather. Lovely appearance. Nicely flocked with wider panels for a comfortable fit for my horse. This saddle is a true representation of quality from the expert craftsman of England.
Summary: There are many brands of quality saddles that we, here in the USA, are not familiar with. After doing a little research, I learned that Tudor Estate Saddles are such a quality saddle. I also learned that they are no longer being made. I feel exceptionally lucky to have purchased this wonderful saddle for such an excellent price. I have tried several saddles on this gelding including: Stubben x 2, County, Frank Baines, Duett, Wintec, Collegiate, Astund, Arabian Saddle Company, Abetta, Sharon Saare, Dixieland, Circle Y and Crates. While these are all very fine saddles, not one fit both me and my horse well. The quality of my Tudor equals or excels any of the above. I would not hesitate to purchase a Tudor Estate again. It is definitely worth what I paid and I would pay more if I needed another and IF I could find one.
