Purchase: I bought this pad from Valley Vet.com for $154.95 (free and super-fast shipping)
Likes: I have had this pad for 4 months and have used it on two different horses. One 6 year old 16 hand arab/QH and one 25 year old QH, both horses ride more comfortably with this pad- especially the old guy. It is high quality. It is constructed with a layer of wool/poly blend felt on each side of a layer of "impact gel" across the topline. The impact gel is supposed to absorb/disperse any pressure points creating a more comfortable experience for the horse. The gel does seem to disperse or absorb the pressure areas and make the horses more comfortable. I am buying another one so both horses can be equally comfy.
Dislikes: I bought the 3/4" pad, which is perfect for my old horse, for his comfort; but when I buy another one for my young guy I will buy a 1/2" pad as I feel that the "close contact feel" is slightly lessened by this pads thickness. I wish the pad was more contoured for horses with prominent withers. It is probably perfectly contoured for horses with a flatter topline. This probably doesn't count but I will also buy the "Barrel/Endurance" version (cutback skirt type pad) contour to lessen bulk were we don't need it (we have round skirt saddles).
Quality: Good. Maybe a little over-priced, but it does it's job.
