Purchase: I purchased this saddle off of ebay over the summer to use on my ranch for roping cattle. I paid $600.00 with the shipping included. I was looking for a good dependable roping saddle that could take down 2500 lb steer without snapping the horn. I have a hurford that I really like, but didn't want to spend $2000.00 + on a saddle. I received the saddle and right out of the box the quality just blew me away. The leather, tooling, tree , rigging are all of a quality of a much more expensive saddle. The true test came thought when I took it out to rope off of. All I can say is this is a solid saddle. I have roped a dozen steers thus far and this saddle is still solid!! I went ahead and bought 3 more for my ranch hands from the same guy and he even gave me a discount. I bought 4 excellent saddles for the price of 1 Hurford! And the kicker of it all! I have fellas come over all the time offering me $1000.00 + for my saddle!!
Likes: Solid and sturdy Fiberglass wrapped wood tree. We all know that without a good solid tree that a roping saddle is just junk! Brass rigging, deep tooling, pre turned stirrups!
Dislikes: Leather was just a bit stiff, but a little oil and it is more then perfect!
Quality: Very good craftsmanship all around. Nothing I can see to complain about.
Summary: If you can not or do not want to spend over $1000.00 for a good well made sturdy roping saddle. Then this saddle is for you! I have owned alot of saddles over the last 60 years and I can honestly say this saddle is well worth your investment!
