Purchase: I was looking for a lightweight cooler for after work outs for my show horse. I saw this online and ordered a 'Large.' It seems I paid around $85.00 plus shipping for this item.
Likes: This cooler is indeed contoured and has an attached neck that fits up near the ears.
Dislikes: This item is 'Large' but barely, and I mean BARELY fits my smallish gelding. There are three fasteners that go from the chest to the upper neck. They are velcro and the velcro has to be threaded through a very small metal fitting before you can tighten it up. The sheet is so small that it does not cover the chest area. The fasteners are extremely difficult to thread and do not fit well. Poorly designed and very poor fitting dimensions. There is a surcingle that fits under the mid belly. It has a T shaped fastener that is nearly impossible to latch. The surcingle,rather than going over the garment to keep it stable, is sewed underneath the sheet making it nearly impossible to fasten it. In the breeze this sheet blows up all over the place. Very poor design.
Quality: The design is not well executed and obviously not done by anyone who has anything whatsoever to do with horses. The fabric is synthetic and does not breathe at all. It takes hours for a horse to cool with this thing on. Fasteners are difficult to use due to placement and their overall design.
The fit for a 'Large' might adequately fit a 14.2 hh, thin body type horse but not the average 15.1 medium bodied or larger animal.
Summary: Poorly designed in every imaginable way. Very poor fabric, difficult to use, poorly sized and expensive. There is NOTHING I like about this garment and I am very sorry to have lost nearly $100.00 with cost and shipping charges.
Do yourself a favor and get a wool or wool blend from a better company. This cooler will not allow your horse to actually cool.
