Manufacturer: Anky/Pessoa XCH

Purchase: I purchased both a used and new Anky Salinero XCH. I bought the used one on Ebay for $1040 and the new one from Adam's horse supply for $2115 and it came with a free Anky bridle.
I sat in a fixed tree Anky Salinero at Dover Saddlery and fell in love (after they let me sit in almost every saddle in the store, great customer service)however, at that time were not readily carrying the Anky Salinero XCH, it was special order. Adam's however was carrying it and it came with a very lovely, soft supple Anky dressage bridle. I have a very hard to fit Arabian mare who I just could find that perfect fit for. The first time I rode in the Anky I knew it was the one. I could feel her back come up and round easily, I could feel every motion and my leg fell easily in the ideal hip, heel, shoulder alignment. I am the type of person who would prefer to ride with no stirrups so stirrup bar placement has to be perfect not to constrict me, this Anky stirrup bar placement is ideal.
Likes: The saddle construction is amazing, what you would expect from Pessoa, well made balanced saddle, nice tight stitching and the buffalo leather is so supple I can bend the entire flap back on itself. The billets are strong and supple but the panels...oh the heavenly panels that go against the horse are very forgiving. This is a very close contact type saddle, deep with nice knee rolls. The front of the panel on the Salinero is more padded than the Euro. I also bought a used Salinero XCH sold to me at about a year old and its equally as nice, it doesn't even show but the littlest bit of wear. Now these saddles have flexible spring trees in them (check out high tec tree on the pessoasaddles.com website) and thus this saddle with the appropriate gullet plate fit both an already broad and growing three year old back and a very narrow mare. Panel shape on this saddle is straighter which happens to work for both horse I fit with it.
Dislikes: This is hard, I love everything about this saddle. Perhaps the only thing worth mentioning is that the medium tree runs narrow. If your horse is a medium he likely will need a medium wide in this saddle.
Quality: Beautiful, beautiful, comfortable, worth every dime!
Summary: I am a hobbyist saddle fitter/evaluator and I give this saddle two thumbs up!
