A Fork Wade Saddle
Manufacturer: JC Martin
Model: A Fork Wade Saddle
Category: Roping Saddles
Purchase: I was looking for a good solid built western roping/ranch saddle. I bought the JC Martin A Fork Wade Saddle with a tooled Rose and Basketweave tooling. I found it on Ebay for $785. I thought if it was as durable as advertised, it was a great price.
Likes: I require a working saddle that will hold up under daily wear and tear and be dependable. This has high quality leather that handles rough and long term work. It's seat is awesome and very comfortable.I bought a half size down to fit me snug, and I have ridden in this saddle for up to 7 hours in one day and was comfortable all day. I have short legs and it adjusted perfectly to my needs. I loved all the tie string for ropes, water bottles and extra coat. It takes all the rough pulling when holding a cow and sits firmly on the horse. For a tough but comfortable saddle, I couldn't ask for a better saddle.
Dislikes: I have not found anything I don't like about this saddle. It has served every purpose it was built for and more.
Quality: It had a FQHB wood reinforced double fiber tree and it fit 3 of my horses great, leaving no soreness after a full day of work on the ranch with the cattle.
The 5" horn cap on a 3" horn with mule hide wrap made it easy to rope and dally from, the rawhide edge and crossover rope strap was great. It had Stainless steel hardware, front & rear Dees, Hamley twist pre-turned & wrapped stirrup fenders which were awesome and great on the knees. The best part of the adjustable stirrup leathers are that they are numbered and they have Blevin buckles adjusters for shorter or longer legs. Awesome full leg swing, 4" Stirrups, and only weight about 36 lbs. I bought the Rose and basketweave embossed saddle and it has handwaxed finish. Very impressed with the tooling. It comes with the rear Cinch, which I always use, and has buck-rolls which I needed to use young horses or crazy horses :)
It comes with a Five year manufacturer's warranty which I love that they back their saddles.
Summary: I have used this saddle for work and pleasure, and found it great for both. After months of use it still looks almost like new and it broke it great. I know when I need a second saddle I will absolutely get another JC Martin saddle. It a great looking saddle with tough durability and will last for many many years to come. What more could you ask for.
