Small Mesh Hay Net
Stable Accessories

Manufacturer: Miller Harness Company
Model: Small Mesh Hay Net
Category: Stable Accessories

Purchase: After reading numerous articles on the natural workings of the digestive system of horses, and seeing the effect of pasture turnout in summer yielding healthier, happier horses,I decided to try to keep an almost constant source of hay in front of my boys(geldings)this winter.Instead of the alfalfa rich hay I fed two times a day,I feed a mostly grass hay. With the cold Ohio winters I did not wish to constantly be running down to the barn to throw hay.I purchased three of these small mesh hay nets from Miller Harness at $9.99 each to relieve the numerous trips to the barn .I wasn't sure they would hold up to horse teeth since I had previously some years back tried hay bags(at $20.00 plus) which were torn and trampled in minutes.

Likes: The nets work great!!They save me from running down to the barn every few hours and keep the horses busy eating hay most of the night or day if they must stay in their stalls. The nets make them eat much slower since they can only pull a few strands at a time from the small mesh net so the hay lasts longer and digestion is slowed.I thought the webbing would be destroyed in minutes but it's been four months and they are like new.

Dislikes: i love everything about these nets but they need to sell larger capacity small mesh hay nets. The current nets will only hold three to four small flakes.I'd like to see a five or six flake size.I hang them on the corral fence posts and there is room for about double the size without touching the ground.

Quality: The quality must be very good to hold up to three 1200lb.horses pulling and biting and knocking the stuffings out of the nets all day, everyday, for four months!!

Summary: These nets are the best and less costly products I have ever bought for the horses and have saved me both time in feeding and money in not wasted hay.The horses are more relaxed with the almost constant food and feed time pushiness is gone.I don't worry about the horses getting ulcers because the stomach acids in the digestive system break down the constant hay in the stomach and my horses won't choke as easily or colic as easily due to the slow intake of the less concentrated feed. I'm buying three more!!!
