Purchase: I bought this saddle online from the Cowboy Exchange for $1400 in 2010. The price included shipping plus a matching bridle, reins, bit, and breast collar. I was looking for a western saddle that fit my 14.3h hard to fit Half Arabian mare. She is wide with a short back. I didn't want to spend a fortune on a western saddle as I normally ride in either a dressage saddle or the ASC Solstice (English based endurance saddle).
Likes: This saddle is attractive with it's simple tooling design and conchos. Better yet, it has an extremely short skirt that looks proportionate on my mare. It is light weight for a western saddle at approximately 25 lbs (still very heavy in my opinion). I test rode the saddle a few times at home and was pleased with it. Our first trail ride in this saddle was 30 miles (not as planned). My horse showed no soreness or discomfort using this saddle with a 5 Star wool pad.
Dislikes: I wish the saddle were lighter weight. Otherwise, I cannot find much to fault with this saddle.
Quality: I have not used this saddle a lot; however, it appears to be a very nice quality. No loose stitching or rough edges. The leather is fairly supple for a western saddle. The saddle feels balanced.
Summary: If you're trying to fit a short backed, wide horse, this is the saddle for you. It's comfortable and balanced with short skirt. All of this without breaking the bank.
