Purchase: About 5 years ago, when I first bought my horse, we went saddle shopping at a local Petsmart. Back at the time, State Line Tack was in this Petsmart store, so I tried it out there for size and then ordered it. We paid $450 for it. It was my very first saddle, so all purpose was the way to go.
Likes: Since buying this saddle, I have done english lessons, both jumping and flatwork, 4-H, 3-phase shows, trail rides, hunter paces, and Pony Club. This is a fantastic beginner's saddle. One time a friend of mine even asked what brand of saddle it was, thinking it was real leather! The deep seat makes it really secure, both for my dressage tests and out on the cross country course. I love the color and the Easy Change Gullet System allowed me to fit this saddle perfectly to my round Quarter Horse's back.
Dislikes: There are only a few things that I don't like about this saddle. First of all, try not to ride in the rain with it because the knee pads will become soaked and they take a day or two to dry out(even though the leather won't be damaged if you do). Another thing I don't like about this saddle is that it doesn't come in different flap lengths, so my super long legs no longer fit. Other than that I really have no complaints!
Quality: After having this saddle for 5 years, there are very little wear marks. I have to admit that I don't keep up with cleaning it very well, yet when I swipe a wet sponge over it it looks almost brand new! As I mentioned before, this is a great beginner's saddle and is capable of doing any discipline you throw at it.
Summary: All in all, this is a fantastic saddle for beginners and intermediate riders, but if you want a custom fit, this is not your saddle. The synthetic material almost looks like leather (I have the brown color) and does not wear a lot. If you're a first time horse person, go out and buy this saddle! It will be ready for whatever you want to do!
