Manufacturer: Antares
Model: Spooner
Category: Jumping Saddles

Purchase: I ordered this saddle through a local tack shop for $3000 (cdn) plus 12% tax. I ordered it because I wanted an Antares, but couldn't afford to have a custom one made and also really wanted to buy something new and break it in myself.

Likes: I really love the saddle. Originally I ordered it with the regular flap. It fit my horse beautifully and also fit many other horses at the barn well. I had the saddle fitter try it on a multitude of horses because I wanted a saddle that would fit many different types as I often school friends' horses for them when away etc. and want to be able to ride in my own tack.

Dislikes: I originally ordered this saddle with the regular flap size (2), however I found that my knee was protruding over the edge of the flap in the front. I'm not particularly tall (5'6) so I was surprised that the regular flap length was not long enough. I have since ordered the saddle with the 3 long flap.

Quality: The leather is nice, and the block size and placement (thigh and knee) seems to be in just the right place. I was especially impressed with the way that my leg felt stable even before the new saddle was fully broken in. The leather was soft enough to start with so that it wasn't slippery.

Summary: Overall this saddle is great for the price paid for a new French made saddle. It seems to fit many warmblood types well and puts your leg in a good, stable position. Also like the fact that they are now making it in a darker color leather so you don't have to start with a Newmarket Orange color!
