Purchase: I purchased this saddle at a local tack shop to replace my old saddle which was not suitable for riding higher jumps. The purchase price for it was $995. This saddle is imported by Stubben, not made by Stubben though I am not sure where it is made.
Likes: This saddle is constructed very well. It has good sized knee rolls as well as knee blocks, which really help keep your leg from sliding back. The leather is very soft and has worn very well and the seat is also very soft and comfortable. Everyone who has ridden in it loves it! The flap is very forward which is perfect for people with longer legs who have trouble finding a saddle that fits. It is also a very fancy looking saddle, people always think I paid alot more for it. The gel panels are very soft on the horse.
Dislikes: Because the leather is so soft, it must be cleaned often as dust readily collects on the leather. The leather will turn lighter when you clean it, so it must be oiled afterwards to restore the dark color. The flaps that sit closest to the horse are not as soft as the outer flaps.
Quality: The construction of this saddle is excellent. I use this saddle about 5 days per week and have had it for almost 2 years. I have had no problems with it since it was purchased. In fact, it still looks brand new! I would describe this saddle as a narrow/medium, perfect for thoroughbreds.
Summary: This saddle is very comfortable to ride in and will keep looking new so long as you take care of it. It is nice enough to take to A shows, and tough enough to ride in everyday. It puts the rider in the correct position and will help keep you there over jumps. The absolute best quality saddle I have seen for the price.
