Purchase: Bought used for $650 on Ebay to replace a saddle that was making it very difficult to keep a proper position.
Likes: THE most comfortable saddle ever, at least for me. It doesn't hurt my seat bones, plus its the first saddle to not rub certain lady parts raw, ouch! It's probably because I can actually sit properly in it. I personally don't find it restricting, however, if you have a long crotch to knee measurement, you need to get a larger seat size regardless of your body/butt size. Since I have Arabians, which by the way are often much wider than many warmbloods, the Thornhill is perfect. Their wide (34cm) tree fits my mare really well, and it also comes in a hard to find 36cm. The saddle is fairly short from front to back compared to others, and it isn't a huge saddle, so it's good for short-backed horses. I really don't like it when a horse's entire mid section is taken up with a saddle.
Dislikes: I can't think of anything I don't like. Honestly.
Quality: Even though I bought it used, it's in great condition. The leather is soft and supple, there is no fading, and all the stitching is in good order. This saddle is deceiving. Even with it's low purchase price new, the quality, fit, and feel is worth far more. This saddle is equivalent to any custom made or more expensive saddle in my opinion. I've ridden in a Custom Saddlery Revolution, a Black Country Eden, and a couple of Schleese saddles. Thornhill was the best for me.
Summary: Very comfortable, easy to keep a proper position, secure, doesn't take up my Arabian's entire back, and is wide enough for those big-barreled horses. Yes, Arabians are very wide!
