Purchase: I eventually bought three of these girths about six years ago from Long Riders Gear. I paid approximately $60 plus shipping. I wanted a girth for endurance riding to use with my ASC Solstice and Toklat Woolback pad. My Arabian mare has a forward girth groove and is sensitive to neoprene and other synthetic materials, so girths can be a challenge. I tried one girth for a few months before buying two more.
Likes: These girths are fabulous. After five years of competitive endurance and conditioning, I never had problems with slipping, galling, or rubs. I'm using these girths with both the Solstice as well as a Freeform treeless saddle on competitive trail rides now. Still now trouble. Bonus, they're low maintenance; machine wash and air dry.
Dislikes: I would like it if Toklat would make an anatomical version of this girth.
Quality: After six years of hard use, they're still functional. Sure the wool is not quite as fluffy and pretty, but it does it's job. No broken hardware or overstretched elastic. Great buy for the price.
Summary: I love these girths. They're hard wearing and thus easy on the pocket book. My sensitive skin Arabian mare likes them. I'll definitely buy another woolback girth when one of my current girths finally bites the dust.
