Purchase: I own 3 of the Myler Combination bits. Two of them are custom bits which I bought directly from the Mylers for $150 each. The third is a production line bit so I only paid around $100 for it. All three are worth the amount of money paid!
Likes: The Myler Combination bits are, I think, the best, most innovative bits on the market. The way they are designed you can ride your horse more off the nose or more off the bit, depending on your horses' temperament and behavior. The Mylers recommend using these bits as a transition for a young horse from a hackamore to a bit. I like to use them for an older, well trained horse, ans a reward for them. You can have a bit in your horses' mouth, and it only comes into play if the horse does not respond to the nose/poll/chin pressure that comes first. Both of my senior geldings had previous bad experiences with rough riders and rough bits, but in these bits, they were completely soft, relaxed and responsive, with plenty of control still.
Dislikes: Well, I love the 2 Ring combination bits, but did not like the 3 Ring that I tried. With the 3 Ring, the weight of the shank always put some pressure on the bit in the horses' mouth, and did not allow for as subtle a signal as the 2 Ring.
Quality: Quality and construction are excellent. These are very well made, sturdy bits. And the customer service at the Mylers is great as well. They are always willing to help.
Summary: I am a Myler bit fan for life. In fact, I have nothing else in my tack room!
