Purchase: A local tack shop (Hope Hill Tack Shop in Baldwinsville, NY) on consignment. Before that it was sold on EBay.
Likes: The saddle is over 10 years old and it is in nearly new condition! The leather is soft and supple, billets are only slightly worn and the flocking is still in great shape. There is very little wear on the flaps. The black leather has kept its color well. The seat is deep and "sucks you in" and keeps your seat in just the right position for effective communication. It is the same for my horse. My horse has a relatively flat back and low withers and my last saddle had an adjustable tree system that you can replace yourself and though it fit her across her back and shoulders, it was a bit too wide along her sides and required a breast plate to keep it from sliding back. This saddle is marked Medium and it fits her like a glove! It literally contours around her sides like it was custom fit for her!
Dislikes: The only thing I don't like about this saddle is the edges of the tree that can easily be felt along the channel. I am concerned that the edges can wear the leather out if the saddle sits on the type of saddle rack that has the high metal center piece. The other thing is that the 17.5 runs a bit small because of how deep the seat is. You may want to go up by .5 in. if you are buying one.
Quality: Excellent leather! Stitching is still in great shape after 10 years. Tree, flocking, all in excellent condition.
Summary: At $900. I think I got a great deal on a terrific saddle.
