Category: English Chaps/Boots/Helmets

Purchase: I bought this helmet at Dover Saddlery on sale for $50. It is normally $60. I was told that the dial fit helmets are bad for jumping and could hurt your head (isn't a helmet supposed to PREVENT that?) so I decided it was time to buy a new one.

Likes: From the moment I saw it, I knew it was great. I expected it to be really expensive, at least $150 and was amazed when it was only $60. It is so comfortable and secure feeling, yet it also looks really cool! It comes in a few colors: navy, charcoal, and cocoa. I got the cocoa one so that it would match my saddle. So far this helmet is very sturdy. Also, the harness part is made extremely well. It never touches my ears, which is amazing! It comes down lower than most helmets on the back of the head, which is great for eventing and jumping in general.

Dislikes: There's not a thing I don't love about this helmet!

Quality: This helmet feels strong and looks great too. It has lots of mesh for ventilation and a flexible brim for safety. The harness is made very well. It is leather right by the ears, then a small strip of nylon, and then leather by your chin. I hated the harness on my old helmet, but I love this one! I haven't had this helmet for too long, so it's hard to say how long it will hold up, but I'm thinking a long time.

Summary: I love this helmet. I'm never going back to Troxel or IRH! Tipperary's helmet has taught me how a REAL helmet should fit! I think it's comfier than the Charles Owen helmets. If you jump and have a dial fit helmet, go check out this helmet! It's way safer! Or if you just want to have a safer and comfier helmet, this is the way to go!
