Purchase: I bought this item from EquineCloset.com and paid $98.99. My last horse went through blankets the way most horses go through horseshoes. He spent most of the winter looking like a hobo with multi-colored patches. So when my new mare needed her first winter blanket, I decided to go "cheap". After a great deal of internet searching, I settled on the EOUS heavy weight turnout blanket.
Likes: The blanket provided an excellent fit. It has fleece on the withers and fits high and close around the neck. It has high/forward shoulder gussets that allow freedom of movement. The fasteners are good quality stainless and the fasteners on the bias surcingles have rubber stoppers to keep them secure. It is 1680 denier, and is waterproof, yet it is soft and easy to manage. It has never shifted during wear and it doesn't have a scratch on it after 4 months of pasture board. The color is Mulberry and is a striking burgundy color with pink tones. I live in Minnesota and it has been a tough winter, this blanket has been a blessing and it looks like it will live to see another winter.
Dislikes: I love everything about this blanket. I haven't cleaned it yet, so I have no input on that topic.
Quality: Excellent quality and workmanship. The fasteners are stainless steel and secure. The stitching appears strong and has held up well to the forces of nature.
Summary: The EOUS heavyweight turnout blanket is the best horse bargain I've purchased in a long time. Don't let the price fool you. The quality matches blankets that are 2-3X more expensive.
