Category: Dressage Saddles
Purchase: I got my saddle online and paid $899 (included all fittings and full gullet kit).
Likes: There is nothing I don't like, really! It's a super saddle. I prefer non-leather stuff (b/c I'm vegan) and I find the new Wintec fabrics really beautiful. The best thing is that the saddle just DROPS me into a good dressage position. I feel correct and comfortable. I have not liked many thigh blocks in the past, but the Contourblocs fit me perfectly--my thigh nestles gently against them and they don't interfere w/ my riding at all. Best of all, when my mare occasionally bucks when I ask her to do something hard, I no longer lose position. Before I would slip a bit and it would take me a few moments to get re-established. Now I can just ride her through the problem, so she's not bothering to do it much anymore. ;-)
Dislikes: Really, nothing. Some folks seem to dislike the overgirth, but I like it. Keeps everything smooth and nice, and it only takes 10 seconds to buckle it.
Quality: It's a beautifully made saddle. I had an Isabell before, which I LOVED (sold it b/c I thought my horse no longer liked it, but turned out he had a bigger problem and it wasn't the saddle), but I think the quality of the new Pro is even better.
Summary: I'm a big fan of synthetic saddles and they have come a LONG way. I simply cannot afford a $2-4K saddle, and buying used is fraught with danger. I love being able to get a well-made, well-balanced saddle for less than $1K! VIVA WINTEC!
