Manufacturer: Ron's Horse Harness
Model: Presidential Horse Harness
Category: Horse Miscellaneous

Purchase: I found Ron's Horse Harness through internet searching. I bought the Presidential horse harness. I replaced the forked hip drop strap with two hip straps - at my own expense because Ron's wouldn't alter anything and that fork was unstable, and did not allow enough distance between the buckle points of the straps onto the breeching. I found the breeching to be too "limp" around the butt because the hip straps were set too close together and too far forward. I also find that all my rein turrets are too high for my Morgan and there are no alternate positions for them. I found the overall saddle padding lacking and ended up getting a saddle pad to keep my horse's back comfortable. ALL my straps were too long for my large cob sized 15.2 hand Morgan, so I have a lot of floppy straps. The bridle is the nicest part of it - no complaints with that. Overall, you get what you pay for and this harness is good for low use pleasure driving, light training. For the price, I'd do it again, but not if this was the only harness I would have!

Likes: It's primarily modeled after a gig harness, so the saddle is wide and has some good features. The leather quality is lower mid-line, better than Pakistani, East Indian.

Dislikes: Customer service is NOT on their agenda. Calls were answered by different, very rude people who provided no information, would not attempt to offer a solution, and ultimately said I would have to send the harness back for any adjustments or replacements. Since it took three weeks to have it shipped (I watched the tracking online), I was not anxious to spend six weeks waiting to see if they would make desired changes and just made them myself. Despite their ads, pictures, and testimonials indicating they are nice enough for competition, I wouldn't believe it except for fun stuff. Quality: The leather quality is lower mid-line, better than Pakistani, East Indian. They make a good training harness b/c it's cheap and effective. It's a nice pleasure harness for the average beginner. The price point is on target - low enough to be worth it for something you can use limitedly, but not what you want for everyday or competition driving. I paid $400 USD for mine two years ago, use it an average of 4-6 times per week and it's holding up okay. Starting to show a lot of wear.

Summary: If price is the concern, this harness is nice for the price. If you are planning on heavy use or competition, save your $$$ for a truly decent harness. This is not something to be ashamed of, but you'll never want to brag on it either. If you're starting out, you'll want your trainer to help fit everything, but it should be a good starter harness until you have time to shop for the one you'll really need/want.
