Purchase: I was having difficulty trying to find a saddle that fit my 17.2hh PerchXTB gelding. He has a well defined wither sloping to a wide spine and broad back. It seemed if it fit on the back it was pinching the wither. I found this saddle on sale at The Paddock in Vernon BC for $1500.00 reg. $2200.00. I was very pleased with the price because after having numerous saddles shipped up to try I was willing to pay anything to have a good fitting saddle.
Likes: Every saddle that I had tried on my horse (there were plenty) made him really uncomfortable so the best thing about this one is the fit!! He is finally moving forward freely and as a bonus it is very comfortable for me. He seems eager to work now and appears to be a different horse. It is great for jumping and I feel balanced enough for most anything. (I think it is classified as an event saddle).
Dislikes: Not much! The only complaint I would have is a slight discoloration (darker)under the stirrup straps but I have ridden in it now for 2 yrs. so not surprising.
Quality: The leather was soft and supple right from the start. It is a slightly two tone brown color which I liked. The quality is excellent, well stitched and has a number of girthing options(4 billet straps)if you have trouble with a saddle slipping side to side. I haven't used this option though. The surface underneath is very broad so it carries the weight evenly and it has with a wide channel.
Summary: I love this saddle! Now if only I can find a 60" girth!
