Purchase: I bought this saddle used from a private dealer for $500, it was in excellent condition. I loved my old HDR saddle, but it had a wide tree and did not fit my new horse (16.1H thoroughbred). I figured that was a good enough excuse to upgrade my saddle.
Likes: It has very rich, cherry colored leather. The flaps are long enough for my crazy long legs (I'm 5'10" tall), and the knee rolls are just the right size. The panels on this saddle are very flexible allowing my horses shoulders to move freely over fences, he was never sore, made me very happy.
Dislikes: That rich, cherry colored leather bleeds all over the place when oiled. I ruined a dozen saddle pads and several pairs a breeches are permanently stained. Also, the leather maybe soft and comfy, but it's not durable. After only a year of use the flaps were pretty tore up just from my boots and stirrup leathers.
Quality: Saddle looks nice, but will not hold up over time. Stitching has started to come loose along the knee rolls. Leather is not bad considering its a "cheaper" saddle, but my HDR was the same price and had better quality leather.
Summary: Take my advice, spend $900-$1200 on a NICE, quality made saddle. Cheap saddles will last you a couple of years, they are great for schooling shows and trail rides. But if you're looking for a show saddle that's going to last 5+ years and still look good.... "What you pay for is what you get." Sorry
