Purchase: I believe this saddle is a Spanish made Stubben (the crease down the seat is typical of all Stubben saddles) If I remember correctly they cut the leather in Germany and shipped it to Spain for assembly thus producing a cheap but excellent saddle. They also made jumping saddles of this brand. I also have one of the dressage saddles and it is in very good condition. I wouldn't sweat the black leather thing, it is a fad. Also black leather is able to be cheaper hides. London, the lightest color of saddle leather, needs be the best quality as little dye is used. Black tack for years was all crap as the dye covered up a myrad of faults. It is just a fad in the show ring like bling browbands. Remember when all the hunters had rolled bridles?
Likes: It is well made, rides well and fits the horse well. The color does not bleed or run. The balance is good and one is not forced into a particular position by the saddle as is common in many of the overbuilt new saddles.
Quality: it is quality German leather on a Stubben tree
