Purchase: we have two units we bought from Farnam a number of years ago at about $175 each.
Likes: these are the only thing that will catch kill and reduce the numbers of horse flies, green heads, deer flies and BOMBERS. The fly population in your barn area and pasture can and will decrease exponentially. Initially they are expensive but so is fly spray that doesn't work. These work. We never had horses in the pasture bother with them.
Dislikes: A pain to set up each year. Leave the posts up. We leave them up and put a length of PVC pipe over them so they are visible.
They are really ugly
Quality: hold up well although the troughs do rust in a few years and the plastic liners need replacing every couple years.
Summary: Farnam bought the original company, I believe and then did not market this item...go figure,probably making a lot more money on fly spray. Now being sold independently and absolutely the best fly item on the market. They will virtually eliminate bombers from your barn area!
