Purchase: I purchased this saddle in April 2011 (as soon as they came out) from Trumbull Mtn Tack for $895.
Likes: This saddle fits my wide Moriesian gelding perfectly. The channel is wide for plenty of wither/spine clearance, nice flat panels for broad flat backs. I don't think my horse has been this comfortable in a long time. The seat and knee pads are made of leather, which is really nice. The seat is very comfortable and provides good grip. The parts of the saddle that are not leather look and feel like leather. It's very soft, unlike some synthetics which are stiff and on which the flaps stick out from the horse's sides. There is no squeaking at all. The saddle is forward enough for lower level jumping. I raised my stirrups up to my regular jumping length and have no problem. It has a changeable gullet with more options than the Wintecs, and it is wool flocked so it can be adjusted by a saddler. Of course, it's also easy to clean. I can't say enough good things about this saddle.
Dislikes: The one small complaint I have is that it is not as easy to change the gullet as the video on the Thorowgood website makes it seem. I needed my husband to help me, and it still took about 15 minutes. However, changeable gullets are for horses that are growing or changing shape, not to be changed everyday between horses, so it's not a big problem if you only do it once in awhile. Overall, it's well worth it.
Quality: High quality synthetic saddle. Looks and feels like leather, comfortable, and functional.
Summary: Can't beat this saddle for the money. My horse requires a hoop tree because he's very wide, and this is the only saddle I found to fit him and me, short of going up to the $2000+ range. I would recommend this saddle to anyone.
