Purchase: I purchased these at Jeffers for $86.49. I had been looking at sloped/slanted stirrups to help alleviate the pain I was having in the top of my feet while on long trail rides. I liked the more organic look of the wood as opposed to the aluminum ones that are more commonly available.
Likes: These do help my foot pain issues. I can feel that there is much more even/constant contact with the entire bottom of my foot. With straight stirrups, I have been placing most the weight on the outside edge of my foot.
Dislikes: They are much heavier than I anticipated. It's just a personal preference, I would have liked them to be lighter in weight.
I do wish there was a leather covered option, for aesthetic reasons.
Quality: I have my doubts about their ability to hold up. The first pair I purchased, after two rides, the top veneer had already chipped off in several locations, and there was one section that was actually peeling from the top that had stripped out about 2 inches down. This happened on both stirrups, but I am hoping this was a defect just affecting this pair.
Jeffers, who has the most amazing costumer service, was happy to exchange them for a new pair yesterday. I hope this new pair holds up better, but I have my doubts. I am going to try them and see, and if they do not, Jeffers said they would refund my money outright.
Summary: I really hope this new pair stands up to the test. I like them enough to give them a chance. They are too expensive to forgive the veneer peeling off if that is a problem with all of them though.
If Reinsman would make a leather covered pair, that would solve the problem outright.
I will give these a 3, only because of the quality...the usefulness is a 5 though.
