Spine Free Correction Eurofit wool lined - platinum
English Saddle Fittings/Pads
Manufacturer: Mattes
Model: Spine Free Correction Eurofit wool lined - platinum
Category: English Saddle Fittings/Pads
Purchase: I paid 80 euros for my first Mattes correction pad off of ebay. Loved them and have bought a few more off off chevalshop.com( French internet site) in burgundy, white and black.
Likes: Spine Free option - great for making sure there is no pressure on spine.
Wool quality - i have bought other sheepskin pads and the platinum quality in Mattes is the best so far.
Offers the benefits of wool without being overly bulky and as I ride different horses with slightly different backs, this model gives you the option of adapting to horse.
Customization - allows you to pick and chose your wool, the cording etc..very pretty
Low maintenance - contrary to what I thought, these pads require little upkeep and look great. I brush the wool well with a brush after use and thats it. I wash my training pad only once a year. (note : this is for a horse that is stabled so doesn't get that dirty). My competition pads have been used at least 10 times and I still don't have to wash.
Correction pads are easy to put in, contrary to a thinline correction pad which I have.
Dislikes: Price - when I bought my next pads for the full price, it was less of a "good deal".
colour fading on my black pad- this is one I bought used. I don't know how it was cared for but there is some fading. (not bad though, still very good condition)
spine free option - the strap to hold up pad off spine works great with my dressage saddles (hennig and passier) but for some reason doesn't seem to work with my CWD jump saddle. not serious as pad still stays off spine but to feel sure I would like it to work on my jump saddle.
Quality: Great quality, well designed. I like the Euro cut. The multiple options for colour etc are fabulous. (don't know of another wool lined pad that allows this actually)
Summary: This is the only pad I buy because I love the quality, the correction possibilities and the colour options. This said, if you are looking for just a plain white or black pad, don't need the correction element, there probably are other cheaper options available.
