Purchase: I bought my bridle through Dover's Saddlery catalog. The bridle looked wonderfully crafted and it was also dark, not newmarket, for my dark bay horse. It also comes in oversize which I needed for my 17h guy. I paid $194.70 for the headstall itself, because reins are sold separately. I bought the matching fancy stitched raised laced reins for $159.70. I don't ride jumpers but I like to school in a figure-8 so I was looking for a good bridle.
Likes: The leather is wonderfully supple and easy to break in. The stitching is tight and beautiful. The sheepskin on the figure-8 is high quality and conformed to my horses face after one ride so there was not a "sticking up" affect. The reins match the bridle perfectly also. It is a very attractive bridle and I would buy another in a heartbeat.
Dislikes: I only have a few minor dislikes with it. One, it seems to be an oil sucker. It always wants more and more! Two, the oversize fit my horse in some places like the browband, throatlatch, and crownpiece but I found that the cheek pieces and figure-8 were too large and I had to punch holes. This may be just my horse though, I'm not sure. Price was another downfall but it was worth it.
Quality: It is constructed very well and the quality is very high.
Summary: If you are looking into a Dover Wellington bridle, I suggest you go for it. It is a great bridle and the people at Dover are wonderful to work with. There was a delay in shipping and they did everything in their power to get it to me as fast as possible.
