Likes: Participating in the dressage world, looks are everything. Well I really like the "look" of the Thinline Dressage Girth. It has a sleek design and goes well with my dark bay TB/Clydesdale Cross. I had purchased a Thinline pad and was willing to take the plunge to purchase an expensive girth if it helped my guy stop fidgeting and kicking up when saddled. And since the famous George Morris put his name behind it, I thought it had to live up to it's advertisements.

Dislikes: I did find it odd that I could not find one other single review besides the one on the Thinline website from George Morris. It was billed as solving some girthing problems, and not chafing. However, I have found this girth not to live up to either of these claims. There is some light chafing (skin peeling from under the skin, and he still kicks at the girth when it is cinched. The other part I really don't like (since time is a premium when you work full time) is how the horse hairs get stuck in the seam on the "horse" side of the girth. They are a bear to get out, and I think it will be a place for bacteria to grow in the winter. To me it seems pretty dumb to sew through the Thinline material, and have the Thinline be right up against the horse's body. In fact, they don't recommend putting the Thinline Saddle pad directly on the horse. It will nullify the warranty. So why can you do it with the girth? Hhhmmmm? If I had known the material was going up against the horse, probably would not have purchased. Considered returning it, but I bought it on Ebay, and can't now.

Quality: Heavy duty leather construction. Seems high quality if the Thinline material holds through the seams.

Summary: This girth was expensive, and with horse stuff you get what you pay for. This is a time I don't feel like I got my money's worth.
