Purchase: I'd rather not say where I purchased this junk, because the very good store stopped offering this as soon as they realized it was not up to any good standard. I paid full retail price, but luckily the store was willing to take it back for full refund or exchange.
Likes: That it is weather proof. Nothing else.
Dislikes: I bought this thing to save my lovely Albion from times I might find myself riding in thunder storms out on the trail, or other bad weather events.
This Flex Rider did fit my horse I suppose, but I was concerned about how hard the back panels seemed right off, so I padded him well. Then I rode in it, and it was OK, except the squeaking made me nuts after about a 1/2 hour. The next time I rode in it I put baby powder all up into the tree recesses, to get rid of the squeak. Nothing doing, it was still awful. So, I parked it - refused to use it. It was kept covered in a temperature controlled tack room, on a real saddle rack, and yet a few months later when I went to look at it I found the strip of material that goes along the top from pommel to cantle had mysteriously risen upwards.... really, it bulged between the stirrup jockeys. The flaps on both sides were curling upwards, for no reason whatsoever, because I never put saddles down on the ground flat. Anyway, it was just plain a horribly made saddle, stretched too tightly I guess, causing the eventual distortion. I have no idea if the black color stays, I only used it twice, and always stored it inside.
I have a Wintec 500 now that's fairly old, and it looks brand new compared. I'll stick with that for bad weather days!
Quality: Materials are stretched too tightly I'm thinking, from the factory. The saddle warps and distorts it's shape just sitting around unused. I have no idea if it would last a long time. Have no interest in finding out!
Summary: Ugh, don't waste your money on this brand! It's generally advertised at around $330.00 or so. Get a used Wintec for that money instead.
