Purchase: My new mare had been turned out for four years and I was bringing her back into work and stable life, so I bought the Boredom Buster with several flavours of Likit from www.foxequestrian.com at €34.99 to give her some distraction in the stable and make it less boring for her.
Likes: The stable toy is easy to use, easy to clean, is colourful and cleverly designed so that the horses get to taste the Likits, but since the unit is suspended, they cannot gorge themselves and chew out the entire Likit in one go.
Dislikes: The smaller Likits are quite difficult to remove from the unit. It takes about 20 minutes to replace them. The only other drawback is that if I buy refills in a flavour they really like, they manage to eat the entire thing in about 40 minutes costing me €7 a time!
Quality: The Boredom Buster is a large red plastic ball about 25cm in diameter. In either side of the ball is a cylindrical recess into which a Likit is inserted. Likits are tasty horse licks which come in many flavours including mint, apple, honey and banana. The unit is simple and sturdy. It has put up with repeated banging off the walls by our food-focussed cob who gets very cross when he can't get his teeth into it. After six months constant use, it still looks brand new.
Summary: The Boredom Buster provides both our horses with distraction when they have finished their feed and still have hours to wait in their stables until they are turned out. It enriches their stable environment, they love the taste of the Likits, which contain essential vitamins and minerals, and it keeps our arthritic little cob on his feet and moving around which helps his movement enormously.
