Purchase: I got this saddle for $500 on the clearance section of the Down Under website. It said it was a year old. Whoever had it didn't take care of the leather and it was brown in spots (supposed to be black.
Likes: The saddle fits my horse nicely. She has a short back and is gaited and the saddle flaps are short enough that they don't get in her way. It puts me in a nice equitation seat (as opposed to the horrendous chair seat often recommended for gaited horses) and is very comfortable. As she is a young horse, I appreciate the poleys which give me a secure seat. I also like the dressage as opposed to western girthing. I was used to western so I wasn't sure how I would like it but I had the basic girth exchanged for the one with rollers and elastic and it is easier to girth up than my western saddle was.
Dislikes: There is nothing I dislike about the saddle other than the fact that the leather had lost its color but I am working on that!
Quality: The saddle feels very solid and well built.
Summary: I am really pleased with my choice. I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews before buying it (and went through a lot of saddles in the past year!) and am very satisfied.
