Purchase: I bought this saddle from Chick's Discount Saddlery because I was looking for a good endurance saddle for my Arab and it was definitely in the price range I was looking for ($370). It looked like a cheaper version of the Tucker Gen II which sold it for me!
Likes: I liked the quality of the leather and the comfortable trail stirrups. It also had the center fire rigging that I was looking for. There were rings in the front for my martingale and even one in the back for a cropper.
Dislikes: This saddle was described as having full quarter bars. Everything I have been taught about saddles says that, that measurement would be 7". The saddled measured 6.5", MAYBE! It is so narrow that I can't figure out what kind of horse it would fit. I tried it on my Arab, and it was tight through the shoulders so bad, he pinned his ears just standing there. There was absolutely no clearance at all. Then, I tried it on a Warmblood and it was the same problem. Different body types, same problem. This saddle wouldn't even fit a narrow bodied TB. There was just no clearance in the body. And on horses with longer backs, the back of the saddle dug in at the skirt. I finally took it to a saddle shop. This is a family I have known for over 20 years. I was basically scolded for buying such a cheaply built saddle and I would be lucky to find a horse it would fit!
Quality: I feel this saddle was put together fine, however, it just doesn't fit anything out there.
Summary: Bottom line, I would never recommend this saddle to my worst enemy. I shouldn't have expected anything more considering what I paid for it. I have bought a saddle that is more expensive but worth every penny for the comfort of my horse.
