Model: Crowne Pro Zip Field Boot (View all Crowne Pro Zip Field Boots reviews)

Category: English Chaps/Boots/Helmets

Purchase: Purchased from online tack shop located in KY. Paid $350 on clearance sale, listed at $599 retail originally.

Likes: Like the fit since Ariat seems to suit my more narrow foot and high arch. The laces in the field boot are stretchy and you don't have to adjust them.

Dislikes: The quality is severely lacking from what Ariat used to be, and certainly for a higher dollar item. Wore these as show or clinic only boots and they started to break down in less than six months. The leather is starting to wear through on the sides, discolor, and look cracked. This is with regular cleaning and keeping them in a climate controlled area. At less than two years old the zippers failed, within days of each other!! I know I haven't gained weight or enough muscle in my calf area to break zippers, so evidently the average life span of an ariat zipper is around two years. The footbed still feels great, but I am trying to decide if they are even worth having the zippers replaced. I guess as practice boots maybe. I got better use out of the way less expensive Dublin Aristocrats, which were my practice boots for well over three years, with hard use. I could also polish the Dublin's and make them look like a million bucks. The Ariat's always looked slightly shoddy and I had to use real shoe polish and hope it didn't rub off on anything. I just used tack cleaner on the Dublin's with good result.

Quality: Great construction with very POOR quality materials.

Summary: Very disappointed as Ariat was one of my favorites for fit. If I knew they were going to be disposable boots I would have bought the cheaper ones. Must be like Doc Marten...outsourced to some cheaper process. Will not buy again. Will try Mountain Horse or the tried and true Dublin. I never do these reviews, but if it saves even one person's hard earned money it was worth it.
