Purchase: Online closeout deal. Retails for $3600, paid $1800. I loved my 25 year old stubben, wanted a new one.
Likes: Leather is wonderful. Really like the seat.
Dislikes: Although brand new, the saddle seemed to fall off the right side of the horse. Had a saddle fitter check it, and the left panel was way lower than the right causing it to twist. Stubben company says their saddles are incapable of having problems, and bashed saddle fitters. The superior attitude and belief that they are infallible was not conducive to customer service in any way.
Quality: Beautiful looking and nice feeling leather, stubben has a great reputation. But, mine is unusable as it has twisted and damaged my horses back. Many chiropractor and vet visits (and a Bates saddle)later, horse has recovered. But they have lost me as a customer forever because of the 'you can send us the saddle to look at, but I guarantee we won't find anything wrong with it' attitude customer service.
Summary: I was a stubben girl through and through, but they lost my business. If your thinking about a stubben, buy an older one, they are awesome. If you buy a new one and have a problem, you may be in the same boat I am...out a ton of money, no help from stubben, and can't sell a twisted saddle.
