Purchase: Purchased this girth from Long Riders Gear for around $60 USD.
My 1/2 Arabian is very, very sensitive and was girthy with any type of girth I tried. I tried every type of quality leather girth, and he was still very unhappy and resentful of the girth, until I found this one. All my tack is quality and professionally fit, so poor fitting tack was not the issue. Horse has been assessed by vet and chiro/massage professional.
Likes: I LOVE that it makes my horse happy and he is no longer girthy. He also has a forward girth groove, and this girth keeps my saddle in place without having to do over-tighten it.
Even after the hardest ride, his girth area will is never soaking wet or icky, the mohair wicks the sweat away, and allows his skin to breathe the way nature intended.
I simply cannot say enough good things about this girth. I love this girth so much I bought a second one for my daughter's pony (who galled from 1 short ride with a soft, quality leather girth). With the 100% mohair girth, she hasn't galled since.
It's also super easy to clean, just toss it into a bucket of water, slosh it around, hang on the fence to dry. It doesn't shrink, and looks brand new again when it dries.
Dislikes: It only comes in natural beige or natural grey. Black or brown would be nice.
Quality: The girth is beautifully constructed of 100% mohair (not a cheap blend), along with stainless steel roller buckles and centre rings. It is very soft, with just a bit of stretch that allows your horse breathe.
Summary: I LOVE this girth. I will never go back to leather again.
I'd also like to add that Long Riders Gear are fabulous to deal with, and I will happily do business with them in the future.
