J Stead Saddles
Lady Wade Saddle
Trail Saddles
Manufacturer: J Stead Saddles
Model: Lady Wade Saddle
Category: Trail Saddles
Purchase: I found Jeremy's Saddles on craigslist and read the reviews on his work. I had been looking for a used McCall lady wade for some time and was unable to find the look I wanted for the price. Jeremy made me a lady wade and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. It appears he has been in business since 2004 and is known for making saddles with thick leather and good lines. I won't quote the exact price but it was incredibly reasonable. He was flexible with my payment plan and willing to work with all of my ideas.
Likes: I liked the fact that he was able to add every detail I wanted into the saddle. I was a little skeptical after reading some of the reviews that he might forget some of my requests, but he did a wonderful job and asked questions about anything he wasn't sure of. The saddle only took 5 weeks from the time of order placement to delivery. He told me not to expect it before 12 weeks so I was very happy with the quick construction. As the other reviews say, its a super flashy saddle, great quality soft leather, clean lines, and one of a kind. I cant wait to show it off! I can't say enough good things about this saddle.
Dislikes: There was nothing I didn't like about the saddle. I was skeptical sending my money off to a saddle maker unknown to me, but Im glad I read the reviews and glad they were all true. His work is great and he is a truly talented saddle maker!!
Quality: Construction quality was great. He double stitched all the important parts and we were very impressed with the reinforced leather around the stirrup holes. We are hard on our tack, and any saddle leather stretches with time. The reinforced leather around the stirrup holes means stretching will be minimized and we will get longer use!! The leather quality and hand work was intricate and obvious. As for the durability of the saddle we will only find that out while hours in the saddle and wet blankets.
Summary: Bottom line, you can't beat the price for the quality. The saddle was well made, used thick leather, and there was obvious attention to detail. I would recommend j Stead Saddlery to anyone. I plan to have him make a matching head stall and bucking rolls.
