Purchase: I bought this helmet at our local tack store for around $35 because my old helmet needed to be replaced.
Likes: It has a dial fit system.
Dislikes: This helmet makes you look like a bobble head! I have a big head but this helmet could never seem to fit it. Interestingly enough, I have replaced this helmet with an Ovation schooler and the Troxel gets used by some of my students and it doesn't fit any of them right either! This helmet seems to be made for a very round head. If your head is even the least bit oval shaped it will bobble around all over even if you tighten the back up all the way. Also those huge vents do absolutely nothing for this helmet. You will still sweat like a pig in it. The helmet is also very heavy compared to many other schooling helmets in similar price ranges.
Quality: Obviously as a helmet it has met strict safety standards. However don't expect those standards to also incorporate comfort and style.
Summary: If you get this helmet, you can probably expect it to never fit right, make you sweat a lot (even in the middle of winter), weigh a lot, and make you look like a bobble head. It isn't worth the lower price tag. Spend the extra $15 on an Ovation schooling helmet. I just hope someone hurries and has a fall in this helmet so that I can throw it out and never look at it again.
