Purchase: This was a birthday gift from my husband and I believe he paid about $150. He was concerned about the age and fit of my previous helmet, especially since my horse is very green and can be a handful.
The helmet was purchased from Ride N Drive Horse Supplies, Airdrie, Alberta.
Likes: This is the most comfortable helmet I've ever used. At times I have forgotten I'm wearing it and worn it home from the barn!
I like the large range of sizes offered by Charles Owen, which made it much easier to find one that fit properly, since I have a small head. I did try on a lot of helmets from various manufacturers and this one is snug but does not put pressure on my forehead.
It has a traditional look without producing "mushroom-head", is easy to clean and makes me feel safe. The back of the helmet covers the base of the skull better than my previous helmet, and I think my visibility is better as well. Also,the straps do not interfere with my glasses and are comfortable. I like that it came with a carrying bag, which is a convenient place to keep my gloves, too.
Dislikes: I can't think of anything I don't like about my helmet, and I've been using it for several months.
Quality: Excellent.
Summary: My son recently came off a horse, so we've ordered a Charles Owen helmet for him, too.
