Purchase: I purchased this saddle off Ebay and paid only $1500. Brand new, they run around $2800. It was sold to me as a Bellissima, but it doesn't have the calfskin. It does have serge panels, grey welting, and wither gussets. I purchased this saddle because I already own a Black Country Tex Eventer as a jumping saddle and love it.
Likes: This is a fabulous saddle. It fits my long-withered, wide backed Trakehner perfectly. He normally takes a medium-wide tree, but does have hollows behind the withers.
The balance is amazing. It allows my leg to just fall into place without effort. It also enables me, who is sitting trot impaired, to sit without tension. While it doesn't lock you into place, it does allow you to find a balanced seat with minimal effort.
The vintage leather is soft, supple, and sticky. It wears well and doesn't show scratches easily. The serge panels help dissipate heat. Very comfortable seat - something that all Black Country saddles are known for.
Dislikes: Nothing! I have owned Devoucoux, CWD, Antares, and Amerigo and I am now a die-hard Black Country fan. Nothing fits my horse as well. My saddle fitter friend has started to deal in Black Country saddles since she has worked with mine. She says that they are the best fitting saddles she's ever seen and they have the best scans (she does computer scans to aid in saddle fit). I had a near-perfect scan with mine.
Quality: The best, softest flocking in the panels. Love the vintage leather as I no longer feel the need to wear full-seats for grip.
Summary: I will never buy any other saddle than Black Country.
