Purchase: I tried this saddle on trial from smartpak (which I would recommend because they now offer free shipping both ways). The cost is $1500 new.
Likes: The leather is amazing. Super soft and lush with just enough "stick to it". The seat is deep and secure without being restrictive. The Genesis gullet system should be in every saddle out there. It is a turn dial system that has endless possibilities between the widest and narrowest settings without changing steel plates. It took me 30 seconds to adjust. I would have expected this saddle to be twice as much as it costs. The channel is wide enough for my flat backed Arab.
Dislikes: While I was super excited about this saddle, the twist is wide and apparently my pelvis is not. It put a lot of pressure on my upper, inner thighs to the point of them becoming quite sore in just 45 minutes of walk/trot. I think it was just the wider twist, but I was fighting to keep my leg back and the stirrups wanted to kick them forward. Also, sitting the trot was very easy, but the stirrup length was never quite right. What worked great at the walk was too long at the posting trot. My instructor informed me that it is made for the sitting trot.
Quality: Beautifully well made with the best leather I have ever seen. Fit my short backed Arab mare very well. It looked like it would last a long time.
Summary: If you need a wider twist to your saddle, do yourself the favor of trying this out. I was in love from the moment I saw it, but unfortunately for me it just did not fit right. The gullet is the easiest system I have found.
