Purchase: My parents purchased this saddle for me new in 1984 from a British saddlery catalog. It is a youth saddle, and I think it was mid-range in price at the time of purchase.
Likes: My Whippy is the most comfortable saddle I've ever ridden on. Nothing else comes close to its fit and feel for me. My childhood Connemara seemed to prefer it to all other saddles. It has served me well with my Arabians, as well. I cannot express how much I love this saddle. In fact, I've been chasing used Whippys on EBay for a number of years.
Dislikes: I have no complaints about the Whippy except that it has spoiled me.
Quality: I have to say that the construction is excellent. My little girls still ride on it, and it's still as safe and secure as it was when I was a child. How many saddles are in good condition after 27 years? I would describe the leather quality as superior, and the overall construction is solid and compact. When we purchased the Whippy, my trainer said it would carry me into adulthood-a sturdy little piece of workmanship. I could never have imagined how correct her appraisal was.
Summary: I cannot express what a gem this little of a saddle has been -- Whippy has proven the test of time for me.
