Manufacturer: American Flex

Purchase: I don't normally write reviews on anything, but i just read the scathing review on an American Flex saddle and felt compelled to give my two cents. First of all, the reviewer is correct on Hill View Farms. I bought my saddle from there and although I love my saddle, I had a few go-rounds with that lady also. She is very accommodating while trying to sell you the saddle, but once she gets your money, she is like Dr. Jeckle and Mr. Hyde. I went with the American flex because my mare has a club foot and therefore overdeveloped on the opposite shoulder and I have another mare with the opposite club foot and shoulder. Also, one was a mature horse and the other only a 3yr old and I knew her body would be changing a lot over the next several years. The flexible panels seemed like an ideal solution and truly they are. I started out having two demo saddles shipped to me and had a very tough time deciding which one to keep as I loved them both! I can take this saddle off one horse and put it on another with the exact opposite problem and both were comfortable for both me and the horses. My 3 yr old had almost no withers at that point and so I also had the problem of the saddle slipping. The crazy lady from Hill View farms said I should try a different cinch than the one I received in the package, but she had to special order it from Germany. The lady tried to charge me for the replacement which even the factory told me I should not have to pay for as the saddles were sold as a Package and included the pad and girth. I could not even reason with her and she charged my credit card for the girth without my permission even though I had mailed back the one that came with the demo saddle. Long story short, the new cinch works and the saddle no longer slips. I love this saddle, but would never do business with Hillview again. I found the saddle to be of SUPERIOR quality. The leather was so soft I could not believe it. The seat puts you in a balanced position and is SO COMFORTABLE. I never thought I would pay this much for a saddle but I am so glad I did. I would buy another one if I needed a second saddle, but I dont cuz I can put this on any horse!
Likes: Quality, Quality, Quality. Balanced Seat, Comfortable, Beautiful to look at. The leather was so soft you didn't even have to break it in!
Dislikes: Very expensive as they are made in Germany and the Exchange Rate to U.S. makes them very pricey. There are very few dealers in the states that carry them and therefore, you have to order a "demo" even to look at them or try them. But most dealers do offer that option but you have to pay shipping both ways. I still think it was worth it thought. It is a little heavier than I wanted (mine is 26lbs fully fitted) but most western saddles are heavy. I have heard some roping saddles can way up to 50#.
Quality: SUPERIOR quality... Worth every penny I paid for it. Soft leather, beautifully made. I have had mine for 7 years now and still love it!
Summary: I would buy 5 more if I could afford them!
